We are a proudly independent restaurant located in the small rural village of Pawlet, Vermont. On the way to Pawlet, you may notice that the stores and bustle give way to pastoral mountain views, winding roads, agriculture, quiet. You’ve arrived at the soul of Vermont – its farming community.

Images of fall – Apples, cider dougnuts, foliage, hikes – all often tinged with the season’s first frost; when a sweater and glass of wine is best enjoyed in front of a roaring fireplace or a big window looking out on the colors. Whether getting in a last run at Bromley’s Alpine Slide, an afternoon round of golf at Stratton, Equinox, or Lake St. Catherine, a breathtaking hike up local Haystack Mountain, or hunting our bountiful woods, The Barn offers a day’s end respite with a house-ground brisket burger and a local Vermont craft microbrew beer on draft. On Wednesdays and Fridays, tap your toes, or dance your heart out to bluegrass, or national touring bands.

No matter the season, The Barn is the quintessential Vermont experience. Couples and families with kids love that it was once an old working dairy barn! Whether local or visiting from out of town, our hand-hewn antique barn with breathtaking views down the Mettowee Valley will keep you coming back.
